This effort aims to create a new interest regarding knowledge representation languages and automatic reasoning procedures.
Common languages used for representation have a textual syntax implementing First Order Logic, and the most suitable languages have a simplified syntax, that is computationally less expensive: Description Logics. New types of inferential engines are projected, able to supply deductive reasoning services for software application, now ready to automatically execute complex reasoning.
Nowadays, the interests for Semantic Web pushes the industry to realize commercial products and stimulates research communities to promote open-source projects to offer components for information systems based on description logics and automatic reasoning to the market.
