ROBOCUP 2007

From July 1th to 10th the World Football Robot Championship, Robocup 2007 has take place at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, USA. This year too, Epistematica has sponsored the American expedition of S.P.Q.R. Legged (Soccer Players Quadruped Robots), the Italian team from the Sapiensa University of Rome.

S.P.Q.R. Legged, the team of four-legged robot Soccer Players, wanted by the Artificial Intelligence Prof. Daniele Nardi, is managed entirely by computer science engineering students, coordinated by Prof. Luca Iocchi.

Scientists’ ambitious goal is to succeed in putting humans against robots in a football match!

It seems impossible but history teaches us that in fifty years things that only science fiction could have imagined could actually take place.

If we think about aviation history, only fifty years passed between the first airplane flight and the first time man set foot on the moon!

And in computer science only fifty years have passed between the invention of the first computer and the time that a computer won against the world champion in a game of chess.
